Habitat Families

Muskegon County Habitat for Humanity was organized in 1985 and has since provided homeownership opportunities for over 90 families, including nearly 70 single parents and over 250 children. As our families advance through the program—progressing from pre-qualification to orientation to sweat equity and education to moving into their new home—they gain the knowledge and skills to be empowered homeowners. The journey is not easy by any means. Habitat families work extremely hard and often see many positive changes in their lives.

Statistics from a 2008 Davenport University Study of 84 Michigan Habitats

68% of Habitat families report an increase in their incomes.
25% of Habitat families report better grades for their children.
23% of Habitat families report less sickness.
58% of Habitat families report less family conflict.
40% of Habitat families report obtaining additional education.

Homeowners are encouraged to stay involved with the mission by networking with other Habitat families and helping us continue our mission to bring affordable homeownership to others.  Call the office at 231-727-6020 to find out more about the MCHFH Homeowners Group.
