Muskegon County Habitat for Humanity is a faith based organization that was founded on the premise that everyone deserves a safe, decent and affordable place to live.
Based on that belief, MCHFH works with local churches, businesses, organizations, individuals and partnering low-income families to build and renovate area homes. Since 1985 this effort has totalled 94 homes for struggling families in Muskegon County, and, two more will be added this year!
Habitat families work along side volunteers on build sites and within the organization for, at least, 400 hours, earning sweat equity which is used toward the downpayment on their new home. They then puchase completed homes with a 25-year 0% interest mortgage.
An application process is beginning soon to identify families who will receive homes in the spring of 2012. If your family is in need of affordable housing and ready for homeownership, but is ineligible for a traditional loan because of a low but stable income, the Habitat program might be for you.
Simply complete the pre-qualification form to see if you qualify to apply. If so return the form to the Habitat office to receive further application information.
